Hit Streak Over, Jesters Stop Hament Wednesday, August 25th, 2027 Late in the game Jacks left fielder Kumar Hament stepped into the batter box with his 22-game hitting streak on the line. Up to then he was without a hit. Sadly it just wasn't to be -- Hament did not get a hit -- and his streak was finally over. The Jesters had stopped him, not allowing him a hit in 5 at-bats. However, Jacksonville won the game 7-5. "Winning the game took some of the disappointment out of it," Hament told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 22 straight games. It's something I will always remember." This season Hament has hit at a .288 clip and produced 34 RBI, 6 home runs and 61 runs. |
