Minnesota-Washington Free-for-All Gets 8-Game Suspensions
Monday, July 12th, 2027
When fights happen, suspensions are not far behind. That axiom was held to be true today when Minnesota's Alonso Duarte and Washington's Norogumi Matsumoto were given a temporary vacation from the game, courtesy of the league commissioner's office.
They both were suspended for 8 games for their actions in a recent ruckus between the two teams. Both benches cleared when Duarte charged Matsumoto.
Both players have accepted their fate and will begin serving their suspensions immediately. Neither would talk to reporters about the confrontation.
This season in 86 games, Duarte has hit at a .256 clip with 78 hits, 5 home runs, 35 RBIs and 36 runs scored.
On the year Matsumoto has no saves in 25 relief appearances with a 0-5 record and 5.66 ERA.
