Zamora Socks it to Tornadoes, Cracks 5 Hits Wednesday, June 2nd, 2027 What a day for Jorge Zamora of the San Francisco Earthquakes! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen every day! He ripped Kansas City pitching apart at Golden Gate Park and sparked the Earthquakes to a 8-7 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing his special day 5 for 5. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Zamora told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that." Jorge Zamora singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Kazuhiko Kanno in the 8th. This season Zamora has hit 7 home runs and posted a .311 batting average. |
