Hops Rally For 4-2 Win
The Jersey Jesters got a superb performance from pitcher Mitsuharu Shionoya, but the San Diego Hops still won the game, 4-2. Shionoya was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. San Diego reliever Mal Tosewell was the winner. His record is now 7-5. The losing pitcher was Ron Anderson. Son Mai got the save, the 5th for him this season.

Both teams had trouble scoring runs. So, Daniel López's at-bat in the top of the ninth was crucial. With no one out, the San Diego pinch hitter hit a run-scoring double, to give his team a 3-2 lead.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said San Diego Hops manager Randy England. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."

San Diego is last in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division with a record of 26-44.
