A 4-RBI performance from the 31-year old second baseman Juan Jose Cortéz helped the Eureka Hornets beat the Jacksonville Jacks, 9-3. Pat Sheffield got the win, improving to 5-6. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 1. The Hornets saw their record improve to 38-32.

José Ibarra produced a go-ahead triple for Eureka in the top of the first. With one out and a runner on 1st, Ibarra hit a run-scoring triple off John Holmes. It put the Hornets in front, 1-0.
