Beavers Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Prowlers
|
The Portland Beavers eked out a 5-4 win versus the Oklahoma City Prowlers at Memorial Circle Park. Nobody did more than first baseman Lai-hsiang Xiu, who captured player of the game honors. Carlos Rúbio, who went 7.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 3-4. Earning his 36th save of the year was Toyotomi Nakano.
Xiu had an important at-bat with runners on 1st and 3rd in the top of the third, when he hit a 3-run home run. The Beavers went on to win.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Oklahoma City manager Jon Gander.
After today's action, Portland sits at 79-79, while Oklahoma City falls to 68-91.
