Hornets Win at Georgia, 4-3
|
In a tight contest at The Death Star, the Eureka Hornets edged the Georgia Grays by the score of 4-3. Eureka center fielder Dennis Mayne, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Eureka is now 89-68, Georgia 85-72.
Mayne contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Eureka in the top of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Mayne took a fastball from Orlando Días and stroked the home run to right-center. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Hornets to leap in front, 3-1.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Georgia manager Davey Morris, "let me know."
