The Havana Stogies got a magnificent performance from pitcher Ramón Gómez, who muffled the Brooklyn offense en route to a tight 3-1 Stogies win at The Humidor. Havana goes to 91-66, Brooklyn to 86-71.
The Stogies got a big at-bat from designated hitter Lu-po-teh Cheung. For the game, Cheung went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Havana a 2-0 lead.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Cheung.
