Eureka Hornets starter Paul Barrett turned in an exceptional performance against the Portland Beavers at The Nest, resulting in a Eureka win, 6-2. In 6.1 innings, Barrett surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Eureka is now 88-68, while Portland is 76-79.
The Hornets took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Seiichi Iwamoto banged a two-out single. Eureka had been trailing 2-1, but Iwamoto hit a 3-1 fastball from Daryl Harrison for a 2-run single.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Barrett said.
