New York center fielder Derrek Anderson had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Anderson went 4-4 with 4 singles and was hit by a pitch, even as Brooklyn beat the Mafia, 9-5. Anderson was named the player of the game despite the loss. Rob Young, credited with the win, is now 3-4. He allowed 5 runs on 12 hits in 8.2 innings. The second-place Black Knights raised their record to 85-70.

In the bottom of the third, Carlos Campos hit a run-scoring single for Brooklyn. The 164th hit of the season for the Brooklyn second baseman put the Black Knights on top, 4-3.

In comments to the Brooklyn Gazette, Campos insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
