Texans Get Past Manhattan Beach for 3-2 Win
|
Dallas beat Manhattan Beach at Stars & Stripes Stadium, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Paul Johnston, who earned player of the game honors. Johnston, now 14-13, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. The save went to Harsha Majoo, his 13th this season.
Both teams had trouble manufacturing runs. So, Mike Franklin's at-bat in the top of the eighth was critical. With two out, the Dallas first baseman hit a run-scoring double, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"We were in it," said Manhattan Beach manager Randall Hardy. "We just didn't score enough runs."
The 6th-place Texans now have a win-loss record of 66-87.
