Mafia Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
The inspired effort of Omaha center fielder José Vargas was not enough to prevent a 8-7 loss to the New York Mafia. Vargas went 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Reliever Oda Kudo picked up the win. His record improves to 6-3. Keith Martin took the loss. Kunihiko Mizuno finished to wrap up his 16th save.

The most important at-bat for New York came in the top of the 11th inning. With two out, Stanley Comiskey reached on an error by the center fielder, driving in 1 run, putting New York up, 8-7.

In postgame comments, Comiskey said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
