Earthquakes Stumble, Lose to Republic
|
San Francisco right fielder Will Hunt pounded So Cal Republic pitchers at House of the Republic, but it was not enough to keep the Earthquakes from falling, 8-4. Hunt went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Masafumi Tamura was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. The Republic, at 101-42, have a comfortable 19˝-game lead in their division.
Also making an impact was catcher Júlio Segura, who drilled a run-scoring double in the bottom of the second inning for the Republic. For the game, Segura went 1 for 3 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We've got a great group of guys," Segura said, "and we're having fun right now."
