Codebreakers Get 2-1 Win Versus San Diego
|
The Brew Stade was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
The Columbus Codebreakers got a magnificent performance from pitcher José Gallegos, who muffled the San Diego offense en route to a tight 2-1 Codebreakers win at The Brew Stade. Gallegos picked up the win for Columbus, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 4-7. Manny Palma closed it out for his 15th save.
In the top of the 2nd, Columbus took the lead on a 2-run home run by Ralph Butler. At the time, the Codebreakers were trailing 1-0, but Butler's hit with two outs against San Diego pitcher Juan Vázquez put them in front, 2-1.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Gallegos. "Just do my job."
The second-place Codebreakers improved to 35-27.
