Manhattan Beach starter Juan Mendoza pitched effectively against the Eureka Hornets at Stars & Stripes Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 4-2 win. In 6 innings, Mendoza surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Amirtharaj Nagaraja locked down his 5th save.
Henry Wrottesley drove in one run for Manhattan Beach. In the bottom of the fifth, with the teams deadlocked, 2-2, Wrottesley delivered for the Patriots. His run-scoring ground out put Manhattan Beach on top, 3-2.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Wrottesley.
Manhattan Beach, now 74-67, holds 4th place in the Roberto Clemente League William Atteberry Division.
