Calgary had no answer for Victoria Capitals starter Nicolas Joubert, who flummoxed Outlaws hitters as the Capitals cruised to a 7-1 victory. The winning pitcher was Joubert, now 3-1. He tossed 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 9. The Capitals saw their record improve to 25-30.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the sixth inning when the Capitals sent teenager Augustin Connors to the plate against Outlaws hurler Adam Short. With a runner on 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a 0-2 fastball to score 1.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Joubert.
