Xiu Goes Wild, But Grays Win
|
Portland first baseman Lai-hsiang Xiu pounded Georgia Grays pitchers at The Death Star, but it was not enough to keep the Beavers from falling, 8-6. Xiu hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Georgia reliever Bob Moore picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Pablo Alomar absorbed the loss. Georgia now owns a record of 34-30.
Georgia took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, Masami Tanaka stroked a 2-run single to make it 8-6, Grays.
"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Tanaka said. "That's how it goes."
