Heat Suffer 9-3 Setback
The Niagara Stars beat the Kelowna Heat, 9-3, at Drummondville College Grounds. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Gilbert Blanchard, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Niagara reliever John Blumberg picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Liu-liang Ying was saddled with the loss. The Stars improve their record to 16-26 with the win over Kelowna.

The Stars beat the Heat in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out triple Jim Unknown produced in the bottom of the sixth. Batting against Kelowna pitcher Jim Unknown, Unknown gave his team a 5-3 lead when he hit a 2-run triple.
