Loss Extends Trois-Rivieres Losing Streak
|
The Saskatoon Legends had to overcome a big game from Trois-Rivieres designated hitter Mel Bourque to leave Ballpark of Red Deer College with a 9-4 victory. Bourque was 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Saskatoon reliever Jim Unknown picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Keagan Palmer absorbed the loss. This loss makes it 6 in a row for Trois-Rivieres.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Legends sent teenager Jay Cassidy to the plate against Saints hurler Jason Benson. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 1-0 changeup to score 2.
"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Cassidy told the Saskatoon Chronicle.
