Multi-HR Day for Lovelace as Legends Overpower Capitals, 8-6
|
The Saskatoon Legends stopped the Victoria Capitals, 8-6, at Ballpark of Chilliwack College. The Legends got a big game from Roy Lovelace, who slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5. Saskatoon reliever Don Monahan picked up the win to move to 3-0. Jim Unknown suffered the loss. Saskatoon is now 23-16, 5 games up in the Lester B. Person League West Division.
Lovelace had a game-changing at-bat for Saskatoon. It came in the top of the ninth inning with one out. Lovelace hit a first pitch fastball from Jim Unknown for a grand slam home run. It put Saskatoon in front, 8-5.
"First place," said Saskatoon Legends manager Kawanari Ishii. "This is right where we want to be."
