Capitals Deal Saints 7-2 Setback
|
The Victoria Capitals stymied the Trois-Rivieres Saints, 7-2, at Ballpark of Chilliwack College. Kevin Rivière, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Victoria. Tony Serra got the win, improving to 1-3. He held the Saints to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Victoria is third in the Lester B. Person League West Division with a record of 17-20.
One significant plate appearance for Victoria came with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning. Capitals third baseman Carl Bragg hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Victoria go on to win.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Victoria Capitals manager Tom Morton.
