Earthquakes Raise Rally Flag, Beat Bloomington, 4-3
|
The San Francisco Earthquakes picked up a win at Celestrial Fields at Hermann Park, knocking off the Bloomington Blazers, 4-3. Starting pitcher Jo-hsi Sang, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The win was Lonnie Powell's in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Austin Price took the loss for Bloomington. The last-place Blazers have lost 4 consecutive games.
The most important at-bat for San Francisco came in the top of the ninth inning, when first baseman Juan López stroked a 1-1 cutter to right for a run-scoring single, putting San Francisco up, 4-3.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Sang said.
