In a low-scoring game between the Kelowna Heat and the Calgary Outlaws, pitcher Darby Gowing was masterful on the mound. The Kelowna left-hander was named the player of the game in Kelowna's 2-1 win. Kelowna reliever Philippe Vincent got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Adam Short was tagged with the loss. The Heat, at 13-10, lead by one game in their division.

Jim Unknown was the walk-off hero for Kelowna. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Kelowna center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Kelowna manager Bob Cunningham said.
