Monarchs Fall Short, 8-7, at Calgary
|
Calgary beat London, 8-7. The win in part was due to first baseman Jonas Granier, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 3-5 with 3 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Calgary reliever Laurent Brisset picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Alton Giddens was saddled with the loss. Spencer Downie finished to wrap up his 4th save.
Keagan Mark found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing London hurler Jared Blackmore, the 19-year-old third baseman got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run. His 5th RBI of the season put the Outlaws on top, 8-7.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Mark said.
The Outlaws sit in third place in the Lester B. Person League West Division with a record of 6-7.
