Saints Mow Down Heat, 9-2
|
Trois-Rivieres left-hander Joël Meyer made an effective start against the Kelowna Heat at Brantford College Grounds, leading his team to a 9-2 win. Trois-Rivieres, now 3-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the seventh inning when the Saints sent teenager Manny Silva to the plate against Heat hurler Jerry Cashman. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 1-0 fastball to score 2.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Bob Cunningham.
