The Kelowna Heat put one in the win column on Opening Day at Brantford College Grounds. The Heat defeated the Saskatoon Legends, 5-0. Kelowna catcher John Herbert was instrumental in his team's success. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times.
Jim Unknown aided the Kelowna cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the center fielder was 1-2 with 2 walks.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Kelowna Heat manager Bob Cunningham.
