Owen Leads Charge, Rice Blasts Horned Frogs
|
The Rice Owls got production from their entire lineup in an easy 13-3 win over the TCU Horned Frogs. Player of the game honors went to catcher Kent Owen. Owen, who leads the RDL with a .423 batting average, was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 5. At 20-26, the Owls find themselves in 17th place in the Cliff Gustafson.
Rice center fielder Russell Walker helped the Owls to the win. In the bottom of the first inning, the 20-year old center fielder stroked a run-scoring single. For the game, Walker went 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
"We got our butts kicked," said TCU manager Álex Negrón.
