Baylor rode a fine outing from starter Don Boyce to victory over the Arizona Wildcats at Wolverines Stadium. The final score was 3-2. The 6th-place Bears lifted their record to 26-20.
Carl Byrd was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Baylor. In a tie game with one out in the bottom of the sixth, Byrd came through with a 2-run single. It put the Bears in front, 2-0.
"We came out with the short end of the stick," said Arizona skipper Zak Buchanan.
