Golden Eagles Come Up Short at Oregon
|
In a tight contest at Crunch Ballpark, the Oregon Ducks edged the South Mississippi Golden Eagles by the score of 5-4. Oregon third baseman Vince Davis, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Ben Wheeler was called on to finish, recording his 1st save. With the win, Oregon has a record of 19-27. South Mississippi falls to 26-20.
Davis turned the game around in the bottom of the seventh. Facing Bob Brown, the Oregon third baseman rapped a 3-run home run. Suddenly, the 2-1 Oregon deficit turned into a 4-2 lead.
"I still have a lot of confidence in this team," Oregon manager Manny Cruz said afterward.
