Owen Lifts Owls to 6-4 Triumph

The Arizona Wildcats were defeated, 6-4, by the Rice Owls. Leading the charge for Rice was catcher Kent Owen. He went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Juanito Erlam picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 4 earned runs on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 6-3. Jim Unknown sewed up the save, his 1st.
Rick Patrick in the top of the third had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and the Owls leading 2-0, the Rice designated hitter drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"I know we have our doubters," said Arizona manager Zak Buchanan. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
The Owls' win now puts them at 19-26.
