UCLA beat Texas at Ballpark of Celebration College, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to first baseman Willis Pierce, who earned player of the game honors. UCLA has an impressive 31-8 record.

Pierce in the top of the first had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and the Bruins leading 1-0, he hit a 2-run home run.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Pierce said after the game.
