Beavers Stick Grays with 4-2 Loss
|
Portland rode a fine outing from starter Iván Morales to victory over the Georgia Grays at The Death Star. The final score was 4-2. The winning pitcher was Morales, now 5-4. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. Toyotomi Nakano locked down his 16th save.
Going deep for Portland was Lai-hsiang Xiu. The first baseman had a solo home run in the top of the fifth for the Beavers. It put his team ahead, 1-0, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Xiu went 1-4 with a home run.
Georgia manager Davey Morris said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Portland currently is in 4th place in the Thurman Munson League Sparky Anderson Division at 34-30.
