Horned Frogs Come Up Short at Washington State
|
The Washington State Cougars beat the TCU Horned Frogs, 5-4, at Tribe Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Edgardo Gómez, who captured player of the game honors. He went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Washington State reliever Stephen Parkinson picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Bud Lee took the loss. With the win, the Cougars improved to 15-20.
One of the key players for the Cougars was catcher P.J. Hobbs, who drilled a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. For the game, Hobbs went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said TCU manager Álex Negrón. "But we decided not to take it."
