Wildcats Beat Cougars, 5-2
|
The Arizona Wildcats faced a tough opponent in Washington State pitcher Harvey Mack, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Red Wings Ballpark by a final score of 5-2. Mack went 6 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Arizona reliever Adrian Jones picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-0. Harvey Mack was collared with the loss. Mal Goff got the save, the 7th for him this season.
Arizona second baseman Ed Underwood gave his club a productive at-bat in the bottom of the fifth inning. With runners on 1st and 3rd and the Wildcats trailing 2-1, Underwood grounded out, driving in 1 run.
"Good win for us," said Underwood. "Now we'll focus on the next one."
Arizona is now 21-13.
