Aggies Stick Beavers with 2-1 Loss

Texas A&M got a first-rate effort from pitcher Mitch Baker, who frustrated Oregon State hitters en route to a 2-1 Aggies triumph at Palisades Ballpark. Baker, now 1-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. With the win over Oregon State, the Aggies improved to 11-16.
The Aggies got a big at-bat from first baseman Robert Compton. For the game, Compton was 2-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave Texas A&M a 2-0 lead.
"I like winning," Baker told the Texas A&M Daily News. "I may joke around, but when it comes down to it, winning is the most important thing."
