Cardinals Win in Extras
|
John Glenn was the difference-maker for the Stanford Cardinals in what turned into a shootout with the Oregon Ducks. Glenn earned the player of the game award after going 3-for-5 in the 12-9 Cardinals win. Stanford reliever Jim Unknown picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Larry Barstow was collared with the loss. Stanford is now 12-12.
The most important at-bat came in the top of the tenth inning. With two out, Larry Barstow threw a 1-0 fastball to Glenn, which he hit to center for a run-scoring single. It put Stanford in front, 10-9.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Glenn.
