Gómez, Bulldogs Fall to 49'ers
|
Fresno State first baseman Mike Gómez had a good game, even if his team did not. The Bulldogs dropped a 6-5 decision to Long Beach State at Brooks College Grounds. Gómez belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Alberto Piano got the save, the 7th for him this season. Fresno State is in the throes of a 9-game losing streak.
Long Beach State designated hitter Bob Young helped the 49'ers to the win. In the top of the second inning, the 20-year old second baseman stroked a 2-run single. For the game, Young was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We bring energy to every game," said losing manager Bobby Miller. "But it's got to translate into wins."
