The USC Trojans beat the California Golden Bears, 5-3, at Prisoners Ballpark. USC third baseman Ryan Lewis earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles. Alex Brannan earned the save, his 3rd. USC is now 14-8, while California is 7-15.

USC took a 5-3 lead on Cliff Hortelane's 20th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Hortelane hit in the top of the eighth, left California pitcher Dave Wood visibly frustrated.
