Longhorns Defeat Beavers, 7-2
|
The Longhorns had to overcome a fine performance from Oregon State pitcher César Ramírez to grab a 7-2 win at Ballpark of Celebration College. Ramírez allowed 2 earned runs over 5.2 innings. Texas reliever Damian Jones was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was César Ramírez. Jon Stevens nailed down his 3rd save.
The game was far from mistake-free. In the bottom of the fifth, the Beavers committed a costly error on a base hit by Kenny Butler. Texas scored 1 on the play to take the lead, 2-1.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Texas skipper Susumu Kawashima. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
The Longhorns now have a mark of 13-8.
