Longhorns Topple 49'ers as Lindsey Shines
In a tight contest at Ballpark of Macclenny College, the Texas Longhorns edged the Long Beach State 49'ers by the score of 9-8. Texas designated hitter Steve Lindsey, who blasted 3 home runs, was named the player of the game. Texas reliever Damian Jones picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Roger Fletcher absorbed the loss. The 7th-place Longhorns lifted their record to 11-7.

Jeff Patterson contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the eighth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he drew a walk. It was one at-bat that propelled Texas to the win.

"You never take a win for granted in this league," said Patterson.
