Griffin slugs 2 home runs as Beavers Squeeze Past Baylor
|
Ed Griffin knocked in all 4 runs for the Oregon State Beavers, helping them beat the Baylor Bears, 4-3. Oregon State reliever Vernon Whittier picked up the win to move to 2-1. Bob Olson suffered the loss. Larry Collins nailed down his 6th save.
Griffin contributed when he hit a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth. Coming with one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the home run proved to be critical to helping Oregon State get the win.
"Both teams played hard," said Oregon State manager Mike Cole.
The Beavers saw their record improve to 12-5.
