The Houston Cougars racked up a win at Crunch Ballpark, bumping off the Oregon Ducks, 11-3. Pedro Marrero, who started for Houston, pitched effectively for his team. Marrero got the win, improving to 1-3. He allowed 2 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. Marrero allowed no earned runs. Nick Rucker recorded his 1st save for Houston.

Dave Murphy took Tristan Nystrøm deep with two out in the top of the fourth. On a full count fastball, Murphy drilled a 3-run home run to right. It was his 5th home run of the season and put Houston on top, 3-0.

"It's a mindset," said Marrero. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."

The Cougars' win now puts them at 9-7.
