Cardinals Come Back Late, Nip Titans
The Stanford Cardinals electrified the home crowd at Surfers Ballpark with a walk-off win.

The Stanford Cardinals overcame a good performance by Cal State Fullerton center fielder Rick McKinney to knock off Cal State Fullerton, 4-3, at Surfers Ballpark. McKinney went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. The winner was Albert Cunningham in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Brian Densmore took the loss.

In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 3-3, shortstop Dan Holmes won it for Stanford. With the bases loaded, Holmes hit a first pitch fastball from Brian Densmore for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 4-3 win.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Cal State Fullerton skipper Jeffrey Woodruff, "and it cost us."

Stanford bumps their record to 8-8 with the win.
