Tigers Fall to .500 After Loss to Trojans
|
The USC Trojans beat the LSU Tigers, 7-3, at Nesquehoning College Fields. The win was largely due to the efforts of second baseman Jake Gantz, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Don Hart was the winner. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. Alex Brannan earned his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Gantz came through with some timely hitting for USC. With the score 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth and two down, Gantz hit a 1-2 splitter for a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season made it 7-1, USC.
Gantz called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
The Trojans saw their win-loss record go to 10-6. At the same time, the Tigers fell to 7-7.
