Victory Pushes 49'ers Record to 6-6
|
Though he had a great game, Eduardo Velázquez could not single-handedly produce a win for California. Long Beach State won the game, 3-1. Velázquez was named the player of the game. He was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. The winner was Long Beach State reliever Jason Love, now 2-2. The loser was Kip Parrish. The 49'ers are now 6-6, while the Golden Bears fall to 4-8.
Forest Page helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a run-scoring single to give Long Beach State a 1-0 lead.
"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Page told the Long Beach State Daily News.
