Trojans Use Late-Game Magic to Beat 49'ers
|
The Trojans took Long Beach State pitcher César González's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ballpark of Macclenny College. The final score was 6-2, USC. González went 6.1 innings and allowed no earned runs, striking out 6. The win was Barry Hudson's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Lee Bird took the loss for Long Beach State. The 'W' lifts USC's record to 6-5.
Brent Grinlee had a productive trip to the plate with one out in the top of the eighth inning. With the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly, helping USC to the win.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Grinlee.
