Golden Bears Fall to Howell, Bruins
|
The UCLA Bruins powered past the California Golden Bears, 9-3, at Ballpark of Shiprock College. Mel Howell went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4, to lead the charge. Michael Richardson picked up the win with 5.2 innings of work. He allowed 1 earned run on 9 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 1-1. Don Weston earned the save for UCLA, his 2nd of the year.
Steve Parker contributed to the UCLA win. The 19-year old second baseman stroked a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, Parker was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
