With shortstop Kenny Butler leading the charge, the Texas Longhorns defeated the Rice Owls, 6-4, at Ballpark of Celebration College. Butler was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Texas, now 7-1, is playing great baseball to start the year.

Texas took a 6-2 lead on Butler's 12th hit of the season. The 2-run single, which he hit off Jack Smith in the bottom of the eighth, propelled Texas to the win.

"This team is real focused right now," said Texas Longhorns manager Susumu Kawashima.
