Hitmen Win at Brooklyn, 2-1
|
The Chicago Hitmen got a good effort from starter Jacob Willard in defeating the Brooklyn Black Knights at Blue Ivy Stadium. The final score was 2-1. Willard got the win, improving to 7-3. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 5.2 innings. Willard allowed 1 earned run. The Hitmen go to 30-31, putting them 4th in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.
The Hitmen beat the Black Knights in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Cao Ho produced in the top of the third. Batting against Brooklyn pitcher Fred Price, Ho gave his team a 2-1 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Ho.
