TCU got a terrific game from shortstop Steve Schlegel. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Tulane, 5-3. Schlegel was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Tulane reliever Bill Harrison picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Aaron Coleman shouldered the loss. Tulane, now 1-2, is off to a slow start.

Michael Adkins aided the Tulane cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the third. For the game, the left fielder drew 2 walks in 5 plate appearances.
